Retired Army pilot and retired Aerospace Engineer/Flight Test Engineer. I'm also a CFI and own a small two-place aerobatic airplane. My 1977 MGB is currently running well and looking great. After a new top, new interior, new radio, and lots of other pieces, the B is a joy to take on drives.

After almost 2 years of trouble free driving, the aux radiator fan crapped out. After trouble shooting the fan motor and the relay, determined that the relay was the problem after testing the relay. It was chattering when I grounded the input from the thermal switch. Got a replacement relay from a local auto parts store and all is well with the aux fan. LED Tail Lights

Completed the installation of the LED tail lights from BMC yesterday. Installation was a little more complicated than expected. Had to bend the reflectors so I could install the lower LED assembly. Also had to deal with waterproofing. I've used tycon stuffed in the space between the two edges of the lens. May have to use silicon later to make sure no water gets into the tail light assembly. Temp Sensor And Temp Gage

I'm satisfied that the operating temperature of the engine is within range. The gage is reading, but a little high in the normal operating range. The thermostatic controlled fan is operating whenever the the coolant temp raises above 185-190 degrees. So far there have been no issues with overheating. Still have a small water leak coming from the o-ring on the thermostat housing. Will probably silicone it next time I work on the car.

Time for discovery. I now have 3 temp transmitters in hand. The first is the one that came with the B. The second is the one that I bought from CarQuest, and the third came from Moss. Both 2 and 3 are Intermotor part numbers that are offered by Moss (131-565). Now for the resistance values. Number 1 was really bad, and it had a resistance value of 1.2, and it always read cooler than I thought it should.
