Yesterday I was finally able to install my new gear reduction on my 1980. I believe the solenoid was bad. Upon taking it out I noticed the flywheel's teeth chewed a significant amount. Hoping for the best, I put in the new starter and I turned the key, the only thing I heard was 1 big loud click. I think that was the sound of the starter gear connecting with the flywheel. So, me being as smart as I am, went around tightening things and in doing so I stripped the copper terminal on the starter. Ugh!
Took it to my local MG guy, EM Motors, and he put new threads on it, went back, and installed it. But this time I listened to the advice given to me and made sure the battery was 100%.
Seems as though everything is fine!

Yesterday I wanted to do a little investigating to see where the fuel drippage was coming from under the carb. So I took off the air filter and messed around a little bit 
Cleaned the carburetor, tightened loose bolts added clamps to loose hoses, and aligned my steering wheel.
I love this car!

Other than test driving the car during the purchase, which was like 13 degrees in Delaware on January 15th, I took Lucy out for her first spin under my ownership.
Having never owned or driven an MG I was completely captivated with the experience.

That may be true . However, I live in Prattsburgh, NY. Never been to Pittsburgh with my car. Near me in the finger lakes there's a plethora of windy country roads.

Since I was a teenager I had a thing for MGs. My family lived in Delaware but regularly visited my grandparents in West Virginia, driving over the mountains on Rt. 50. I used to think I'd love to make that trip in an MG. I subsequently had a '71 B for years, but I never ventured through the mountains. Then I got a Miata and have enjoyed the trip several times, although my grandparents passed long ago. I still have the Miata, but now also a '79 B and I'm wondering if this will be the year to make that drive. It's about 200 miles one-way, but what could possibly go wrong?

Finally received the seat vinyl kit from Rimmer Bros! However, did not come with headrest vinyl but I was able to get that vinyl from Mike Ruckman. Thanks, @princetn1
I went for the driver's seat first since I really needed that done! The seat foam deteriorated! I started the seat tear down 1-24-22 and it sat for almost two months while I waited for warmer weather b/c my shop is not insulated and heated yet. Got the new vinyl on 3-31-22 and installed the seat 4-1-22 (also registered that day).

For now I've decided to go with the darker, riveted strong wheel. However, that means I had to adapt the 5 hole boss to the 9 holes in the steering wheel.
I also bought a turn signal indicator cancel piece and adjusted that some. Fun times now and fun times ahead!

I have to choose 1 of these steering wheels to install on Winston. I'm at a loss! Two of the pics show the difference in diameters with the original wheel.

Denton, thanks for insightful comment. 190134 (caramel) was my first choice. However, along with what you said 191255 had a nicer feel. I'm leaning towards the riveted one.

I also like the larger diameter wheel -- yep, less clunky looking, but that is strictly personl preference. E.g., notice how many people love those extra big rims with a very thin tire attached? They look like wagon wheels to me -- but, hey, MANY people are paying thousands of $$ to own them.

The large cross section on the left wheel will feel good on your hands and more like a modern steering wheel. You won't like the small diameter, though. I replaced my original banjo wheel in my 69 with a 14" and regret it. I'll eventually bump up to a 15". It does make a difference at low speeds or when stationary. I actually like the size of the original, just thought I'd retire it for daily driving while it was still in good shape.

Denton, HAH! That's the same reason I have 2 original steering wheels -- retired so they don't get worn out.

I bought a 77B last fall. It has the darker wheel (191255), and I like it. I may get a dark wood gear shift knob to match. The original steering wheel came in the trunk.I have it hanging on the garage wall.
