After 55 years of enjoying restoring cars, I start this new year off with the first MGB..
It is a stalled project that an older gentleman decided that after buying it in 1988 and beginning his foray in to the restoration world decided that he was never going to finish it.
Buying someone else's project can provide hours of enjoyment, as well as a liberal amount of frustration and head scratching....
This vehicle has an engine in good running order, transmission shifts as it should The body and interior have been refurbished.
The shocks do their job well and don't leak.
Brakes have been replaced, but one wheel cylinder is seeping.
It has a new gas tank and after market fuel pump.
Glass is good as is the convertible top.
The body is free of rust and was repaired old school with metal patches where required. Floor pans were replaced. A minimal amount of filler has been used to provide conformity in the body panels, Doors are rust free and close nicely with consistent gaps.
Pretty much all good, HOWEVER the wiring and body electrical system
requires work... who'd thunk that.. LOL ....Lucas...
I received along with the car a truck load of spares from his treasure trove when he disassembled 2 other MGB's . He had taken the time to arrange the boxes of parts that things are reasonably easy to find if I need any of them... Think they will be spares as the only parts i need to get are the interior door panels.
Also included are many assembly manuals and over 30 years of documentation and receipts.
I am looking forward to finish up and get out and enjoy the car in the spring and take the previous owner out for spin , or maybe he would like to drive it as well.
