Last week I replaced the two 6v batteries with a 26R single 12v using a universal mounting kit from the local auto parts place. Also replaced the aged, beaten-t-death battery terminals. I found that a family of rodents had been domiciled in the air cleaners and had been using the front HS4 as a sunflower seed storage room:


I still have not attempted to start the car as I am sure the carbs are full of varnish and gunk. Here's what I found when draining the fuel tank - my own "stalagmites":

Here's a shot of what the liquid in the tank looked like:

and the residue:

The baffles inside the tank had completely collapsed. A new tank is on order from Moss.
