Beautiful car and restoration.... did they ever come up with a solution for the oil burning on that engine? Wasn't that the primary reason so few were made?

Oil burning was not the issue, but holing pistons due to lean fuel mixture was the issue. The engines were not balanced by the factory and at a certain rpm would set up a harmonic vibration which would cause the float bowl valve in the carbureter to stick and lean the mixture, usually causing a hole in the piston.Soft mounting the SU carbs or running Webers, as well as balancing the rebuilt engine has solved that issue long ago.

Thanks for the clarification...it is certainly a beautiful car and one of the hallmarks of value is it's relatively rare. Just me, but I think whitewall tires would really set it off. But again... very nicely done. Good luck with the sale!
