Woody III
Posted on: Sunday July 19, 2015
Was sitting and studying body after finished with fiberglassing and guess I needed reassurance I was actually building a CK. So mocked it up with dowels for axles, laid the metal rails on top of those and then the body. I was not enthusiastic enough to put the rubber back on wheels just for a photo shoot, but with a really strong imagination it resembles a CK, I think. The hood is hinged and hopefully have more than ample room for power train. Notice there is no floor yet. If I run out of money...
Epoxy Seal Coat Added
Posted on: Monday June 29, 2015
Wow! Sounds like Tieton was a blast. Hopefully next year I can be there also. I added epoxy to seal the wood to my CK body. I've found this best before adding the fiberglass cloth so that the glass and the wood do not compete for the epoxies. There were a few runs that developed so will have to resort to a furniture scraper to solve those, but has continued to be fun. Found my wheels and get those this week. Down side is that all four are still attached to frames. One without engine or tranny....
Woody Two

A little over a week since posting the pic of the body frame. Now have the entire body sheathed in clear pine, wood strips. Glue and staples hold the pieces together until glue sets. Then pull the staples (1170 in my case) and start sanding. Did not care for the seam between the dash riser and the hood, so some added wood putty. That came out well enough that am now building up a filet behind seat back and top of trunk. Once that is completed I'll be ready to order the epoxy, hardener, and...
First Entry-Woody

June 12th and have been working on my CK. Realizing that almost everyone else starts with the frame and running gear, I snagged enough steel for my initial frame, before turning to making the body. Mainly because I had almost everything left-over from previous projects to get a major jump on the build while awaiting the next payday to creep up so can begin ordering some of the parts and pieces. Being handier with wood than metal, I began converting my sketches to plywood frames. After numerous...
