Emissions – Fuel Vapor Separator Lines Replaced (70 MGB)

Original Hose

The boot (aka Trunk) smells like gasoline. I hadn’t noticed this before mostly because the boot lid has always been propped open. Now that I have had it closed for a while, it’s really noticeable. I checked the fuel tank connection Hose (Moss #282-620) and tightened it. However, the gas smell was still there the next day. Since the evaporation recovery tank (see #76) system is all original, I suspect that one of two things have gone bad. Either, the Evaporator Tank or the hoses...

NOS vs Original

It took me almost 1-1/2 years to find all the NOS buckles, bolts, and chrome parts to replace the rusted and pitted Kangol Seat Belt parts. In many cases, they weren't from MGB stock, but were NOS Jaquar and Mercedes parts. I sent my 3-Point Seat Belts along with all the NOS I collected to ssnake-oyl in Tyler, TX to get Re-Webbing with New Correct Style Webbing. They were able to use the Correct Stitching Patterns and replicated and replaced the Original Labels. They correctly sewed the...

After installing my front end during the restoration, I initially did a front end alignment using a string method I found posted by members in the MGE forum. Basically, it involved getting a long piece of string and holding the string from front to back of the car. Once the string was set and it's parallel to the front and rear rims, I measured the distance from the string to the front tire (front and rear of the tire rim) and adjusted the tie rod until the front measurement was 1/8” less...

Overdrive Fuse Installed (70 MGB)

IMG 1875

During a Zoom Seminar, John Twist recommended that an in-line fuse be placed between the OD switch and the overdrive solenoid in wiring harness which terminates under the hood. I took a section of 18 gauge Yellow wire from an old wiring loom and created a fused section with bullet connectors on each end. I like this idea because I could add it to the circuit, or remove it without actually cutting the existing wires. Note: John Twist's Technical Zoom Seminar #324 dated 5/10/2021 @ around 2...
