MG TD Update May 2021

I've been pretty busy with my 53 TD. In mid-December 2020 I pulled the gearbox. There was difficulty shifting into 3rd gear up shifting and downshifting was impossible. I took the gear box to Astro Transmission in Tavares, FL. Jerry there works on MG's, and is a manual shift guy. This is a long story here, and I had help from a friend along the way. Short version is the gearbox had a bunch of worn out stuff... So parts were replaced as necessary. After reinstalling the transmission new...

The 1953 MG is Awesome to drive. She has the quick precise steering, and the dead flat corning of these old race cars from the past. It’s fun with a capital fun! Got some pretty good looks at the show. Some nice comments too. Lots of thumbs up on the drive out to the show. Janet ate that up. Further, there were tons of Corvettes there… So no one really paid much attention to them. On the other hand there was only 1 MG TD! How’s it drive? You asked… Ya gotta cram yourself...
Bringing The MG TD To Her New Home

Thursday Sept 3rd I went to Oakland, FL, and picked the car up… Drove the 70 odd miles or so of back roads at under 55 mph to my house in Ocala, FL… Got home about mid-day. The car is great fun to drive… You know like a 67 year old car would be… I am keeping it at under 4,000 rpms. Got a car show to go to Sunday. Next week I’ll probably drive it 100 miles to visit some friends… and back. That is about max for this car as far as trips go. 200 mile round trip in this car is not...
