August Jobs

Had time to do some basic maintenance and a few upgrades that were long overdue. Pulled all the wheels to wash and clean the wires properly and found a clamp bolt missing from the left front levers...wonder how and when? At the same time I found that the rubber bump stops were pretty tattered so a good time to replace those. Also finally got to sorting the silent horns - simple fix by replacing the sprung contact behind the steering wheel and cleaning up contacts all through the wiring...
Slow Ride Home

Catching up 2 Back in March I joined some Triumph friends for a day of rather spirited driving through the ranges south of Brisbane. The MG struggled a bit against the fuel-injected TR6s but held her own with the carby versions and comfortably out-distanced the lone Spitfire and all went wonderfully until she suffered a sudden loss of power while chasing the best of the TR6s home. Service

After the PO did so few kilometers that the car was only serviced once a year when the NSW green slip was due I have got her back on a 5,000 km schedule at 120,000 km. Oil and filter changed. Oil looked pretty clean and sludge free. Grease points all done but snapped off one nipple at rhe top of the thread - something I have never done in almost 50 years of greasing cars, trucks, tractors and implements. An Ezi-out did the job and a new nipple fitted without any problems.
