How'd that coil spring seat work out during those 120 miles of the Great Race Brian?Love the brass details on the car, they really set the mood for the period. And....kudos to the seamstress, that seat looks great, real nice and comfy.I'm sure you guys had a memorable weekend, and like I told Mike, to bad you two were the only ones that could make it. The no show's will never know how much fun they missed.Just wish someone around our part of the world would stage an event like that, I'd be busting my ars to make be one of the participants.Oh...that axle.....got any pictures of how you made it?? A rib down the middle and two cheekswelded to it?? I used the same spindle configuration that you did, same as we see on most full sized vehicles with beam axles.Super nice work your doin' over there. Thanks for posting.Denny GrahamSandwich, IL
Hi Denny. Thanks for your comments. Yes Mike and i had a ball. The seat springs worked well. What i did was, put short valve springs inside the larger ones so when we were two up, the valve springs came into play. Like over/riders.Very comfortable and necessary over rough metal roads.Front axle is square section with [a fluted detail] easier to weld] cut angles then folded and welded kingpin brackets and drilled and welded stub axle's in.Rear axle is 25mm go cart type [with keyways] and the hubs are go cart hubs altered to take a 4 bolt mounting.
