Registry: 1993 Lotus Esprit

When I was a kid, the Lotus Esprit Turbo was the car that I thought was the coolest one out there. It was a 4 cylinder that could outrun just about everything else. Since starting to collect cars, I've always had a soft spot for the Esprit and its one of the very few angular wedge shaped cars I actually like. The few I'd looked at before seeing this car, however, had all been driven hard and neglected. This car, which is one of the last of the Series 3 cars, though, was really nice. There are a few of the classic cosmetic issues for Esprits and a few minor mechanical ones (such as popup headlights that don't quite pop up), but, in general, the car was a really clean, usable, fairly low mileage example. When I bought the car, it had the wheels pictured fitted, which were insanely oversize (the rear tires were 12 inches wide!) I've since turned up a set of new old stock original wheels for this year and model and then discovered part of why people swap wheels and why the new old stock wheels were pretty cheap, when I went to go buy tires. Because the rears are wider than the fronts I could only find two options and only one V rated tire where the same brand and model of tire could be fitted front and rear. Hopefully I won't need another set anytime soon!
