Registry: 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Series 3

Purchased for the princely sum of $200, this Jaguar had a pretty straight, clean body, was overall intact and would start, run, and drive. The problem was that it pumped fuel from one tank to the other until the full tank overflowed. For this reason, the previous owner was desperate to just get rid of it. It would have gone into the cash for clunkers program to be crushed, but he didn't have it insured at the time so it didn't qualify. I purchased the car, swapped out all the electric fuel switching valves and the fuel pump and then drove it home from Salem, Oregon. The car had been lowered in the past by cutting and torching springs, so I've rebuilt the suspension and the brake hydraulics to get it safe to continue driving. Since then, I've had the car body stripped and repainted in the original colour, fixing the tiny bit of rust common to XJ6's around the window seals, and had the seats professionally reupholstered. I also replaced all the weather seals all around the car. to fix the typical cracked finish, I stripped the dashboard and reveneered and refinished it myself.

There are still a few small issues to sort out, the biggest being a noticeable oil leak from somewhere around the filter assembly and a couple of other minor problems. I should have it up to being a regularly driven car soon.
