Purchased used by my grandfather, this B was driven by my father as a teenager and used to teach my aunt how to drive when she was young. I'm told the car was sitting in my grandfather's garage for 18 years before my father and I rescued it in 2004 as a father/son project. With the car lifted up on tall jack stands, we went through all the suspension, replaced engine seals, installed a new gas tank, rebuilt the brake system, and spent a year on body work. After paint, a new Honey Tan interior from Moss was installed along with a matching soft top with zip out rear window. The paint is a Dodge electric blue (PB5) and in my opinion works great with the car and tan interior. Wheels are Rota 16x7 with 205/55R16 tires. After a brief stint running with the factory drivetrain the car was again put up on jack stands to prepare for an engine swap and suspension lowering. 2" lowering springs from Moss installed in front and a 1" lowering block installed in the rear. The engine that eventually made it in is a 1.6L Mazda BP fuel injected engine from a 1990 Miata along with the matching 5 speed manual gear box. An aftermarket aluminum radiator was installed along with a relocation kit from BMC Autos. Many other modifications were also completed to make the engine fit and run in it's new body. Along with the engine swap, a full rewire was completed using the Advanced Autowire kit with the PowerBlock modern relay and fuse setup. The car performs and handles well with this configuration and has brought a lot of joy to me and my wife. Most recently the car has received stainless steel braided brake lines all around and the Mazda cylinder head has been mildly ported and all the combustion chambers heavily modified for better air flow and finished off with a mirror finish polish. The head will be shaved about .015 to regain lost compression. This work isn't completed at the moment, but I'm looking forward to feeling the difference (hopefully)!
