2009 Body off restoration. Added rebuilt Laycock Type J Overdrive unit and transmission (by TTR/Ornduff). Installed NOS Laycock clutch assembly, machined flywheel, and installed new rear main seal. Installed Hushmat on floor, firewall, and transmission tunnel, new felt floor pads, and Skinner chestnut leather seat covers and new foam seat pads to compliment the original 63 code chestnut interior. Converted lighting to LED including headlight relays and Cibie H4 LED headlights. Installed English Burl Walnut dash, door caps, shift knob and e-brake handle, all from the same tree (by CG Autowood). Installed matching 52 mm Smith's clock in dash. Installed British Leyland logo radio, remote BT module/amp, and Infinity speakers under original speaker grills. Updated suspension with Koni front shocks, new brake calipers w/stainless steel pistons, new slotted/drilled discs, and EDC green brake pads. Installed new steering stops. New 7/8" diameter (Morgan) rear wheel cylinders and 4 stainless armored flexible brake hoses, Kevlar brake shoes, and Alfin brake drums (from TSI). Replaced rear axle pinion seal. Rebuilt distributor, re-curving and adding vacuum advance via ported vacuum (British Vacuum). Machined ported vacuum port on rear Stromberg (by British Vacuum). Added green ignition wires and green hoses, thermo-switch for vacuum control/idle boost, and correct hose clamps under the hood (non-functional for show). Celebrated with cast aluminum valve cover, K&N air filters, Strombergs rebuilt (by Poolboy), and new gear reduction starter (from TSI). Added new anti-run-on valve and added spin-on oil filter. Installed Motolita wood slotted steering wheel to match dash and got the horns to work finally from the actual horn button. Installed TS Imports stainless clad oil pressure gauge tubing as part of winter project. Installed new headlamp switch, NOS fuel gauge, anti rattle spring/plunger in shifter, and anti-rattle brace between J-Type housing and shifter assembly. Rebuilt heater and fan, installed new fan switch for heat on those cool evenings. Installed 9.5:1 compression ratio rebuilt cylinder head, hardened valve seats, Good Parts lifters, tubular alloy pushrods, valve seals, dual valve springs, valve spring retainers, valve spring locators, and rocker arm assembly, ARP hardware, all from Good Parts. Installed Apple brass lined brake cylinder and red Girling data strap. Brake and clutch hydraulics flushed, refilled and bled with DOT5 fluid. Added screws with chestnut trim caps to ends of map pockets on door panels and new brown fuzzy door seals, new window cranks and door releases. Was back in 1 piece for Spring touring! Mocked up Lucas-like battery with 6 cell caps for car shows. Won AACA Junior last year. Won "Best Triumph" at Champagne British Car Festival in 2022. Won AACA Senior Award in May. Won First Place at Brits at the Barn in June and AACA Grand National Award in August. Replaced worn thrust bearings in engine, and installed new oil pump before replacing re-painted oil pan. Installed new heavy duty rubber bushings in both trailing arms to eliminate the nylatron squeaking. Also replaced both upper ball joints. Got rid of my 2009 Yokohama 205/70's for a new set of Vredestein 185/15 Classics. For 2025, won AACA Senior Grand National Award, and was nominated for AACA National Award. Won Vintage Triumph Register Best-of-Show at the National Meet in La Crosse, WI.
