I have always messed about with old cars so built up a lot of skills and knowledge for which I will always be grateful to my Dad, Ben. . At first because that was what you could afford! My first car was a £17.10.00 Sunbeam Talbot 90 d/h with bald tyres, straight through exhaust and a full half turn of play on the steering. It was so much fun and great for going to the beach with the girlfriend. Over years I have always had what is now called a 'Classic' car and for the last 10 years that has been a Triumph Spitfire. Never have been into concours condition or the "not driven in the wet" club !
A Spitfire, and any classic car for that matter, is there to be driven, that is what it is all about. Currently my son and I have a MKIV on the road and a 1500 which has succombed to rusted sills. It pulled like a train and we loved it but obviously not enough! I think we will pass it on.....
