My 1980 MGB Mark IV

I am fortunate to have won this MGB via Hagerty Marketplace auction. It's all that was advertised via photos and videos. Receipts of prior work done since 2012 by prior owners were included. I've had to do a few manageable repairs some by me and a local repair shop. Rear brake wheel cylinder leak...replaced and bled system. My radiator fan was not operating and she was running hot. I brought her ("Maggie"

to Ike (Khari Euro Cars) for him to check it out. He suggested a new thermostat (180 degree) and a cooling fan switch (Moss). OK! So, the fan is designed to turn on and off at predetermined temperatures via the fan switch. The problem is the fan turns off when I shut the car down. Is that a problem?

I have a 18v engine in my "A" and I put in a thermostat controlled booster fan in front of the radiator. It is powered by a relay and is hot wired so the fan will still turn on after the engine is shut off, until it reaches 160 degrees. One problem that happens sometimes, is the fan is installed backwards and it will not draw enough air across the radiator. Hope this helps

Thanks for your information Robert. It seems I will need to "hot wire" so the fan will shut down at 160 degrees even after I park her but that's beyond my tinkering abilities. More work for my mechanic!!
