oops where does that spring go

OD stands for oh dear! Its a minefield,take my advise,get someone else to do it. Yet again a lucky streak,its ok,but it still had to be taken apart to check.Theres a problem with these units when the previous owner bypasses the 3rd and 4th switch,and its common so check it out,theres a one way clutch that if your switch has been bypassed and the the car is used in reverse the clutch says Bye Bye and so does your overdrive! Its been sitting on the floor of my workshop for months so I did it to get it out the way and complete.Before taking on a gearbox read as many posts on the subject as possable cos this is deep stuff. By the smell I could tell that somebody had put hypoid in it so that had to be drained,thats not as easy as it seems because even when I thought it was all out as I stipped the unit I must have found another pint at least left in it,something to remember if your thinking of an oil change. Starter Moter

Still got poor weather so the welding is out the question.But as with owning a B there's always something to do in the workshop so today we did the starter motor. The old lucas was looking in a sorry state but I think I struck lucky.After stripping it down i found the brushes bearings etc in good condition so a good clean up and paint.Nice easy job for a change.

Before I mention the reason for the update,did I say 5 weeks for the body restoration.....sorry but I'm married and things can change,like the wife is off for 2 weeks and the garden needs a makeover so lets say 7 weeks....ahem from now! so back to the project.Spring hangers,all MGB'S have em,trouble is their tucked away under part of the floor and a part called the heel extension so if you look from above ie the inside of the car chances are you will see lots of rust and think to yourself em ...
