Comfort Lane, Dartmouth, MA, USA
May 04, 2013

Listed on Calendars: The MG Experience

The 2nd Annual Coastal MG Tour along the back roads of the Massachusetts SouthCoast and Rhode Island East Bay region will be on Saturday, May 4, 2013! On our inaugural run last year, we had a couple of dozen MG enthusiasts at the start, and 17 MG's that made the run to Sakonnet Point.

We will meet up right off I-195 at Exit 12 (see directions below) on Comfort Lane in Dartmouth, MA. There are a couple of parking lots right behind the Mobil station and the McDonalds Restaurant on Faunce Corner Road where the Saturn dealership was located (soon to be a Kia dealership). Just look for the MG's! Let's try to meet by 10:00 am, you can have a bite at McDonalds, or the nearby Dunkin Donuts, then we'll have a laid-back driver/navigator meeting at 11:00 am and leave around 11:30 pm. The route we'll follow is a little less than 100 miles, passing by, or stopping at, Running Brook Vineyards, the Horseneck Beach sand dunes, Westport Point, Gray's Ice Cream, Sakonnet Vineyards, Sakonnet Point, Westport Rivers Vineyards, Padanaram Harbor, and then returning to our starting location at around 4:30 pm. Perhaps we can then have a meal and share tales at the 99 Restaurant.

If you cannot join us for the entire run, you can meet us for any portion of the run that fits your schedule. . . or just show up at the start to kibitz.

There is NO CHARGE to join us for the group drive. After all, we're not a "club" per se, nor is this a get together that is sanctioned by any organization. We're just a group of friends out for a drive. (By joining with us, you assume responsibility for your own actions.)

Should the forecast call for inclement weather on Saturday, the rain date will be the following day, Sunday, May 5, 2013 (however Westport Rivers Vineyard is closed on Sundays). Check the Member Meetup Forum page on www.MGExp.com for updates if the weather looks questionable. If the whole weekend is a wash out, we'll try again later in the season.

Cheers,

Rick Crosby

Directions:

From I-195 East, take exit 12, Faunce Corner Road, then right at end of ramp, left at traffic light (Comfort Lane).

From I-195 West, take exit 12A, Faunce Corner Road, then left at second traffic light (Comfort Lane).

Is this show only for Atlanta area British car clubs or can others attend as well? I always enjoyed the show at Berry College but this almost sounds as if it is a "closed" show??

http://www.atlantabritishmotorcarday.com/ Looks like it is on the 11th
Comment by Rand Meyer at 2013-05-08 05:33:16
When I had Skye post this, they had not updated the website and looks like the logo did
not refresh. Yes, it's on the 11th and open to everyone assuming space is available. I
have my registration in. They were saying 350 cars max, but have not heard if they hit
the limit yet or not. The location is the Roswell City Hall which has changed slightly
from when the original info came out saying it was moving to the Roswell Square from
Berry College. Hope ya'll can make it!
Comment by Blake Aasgaard at 2013-05-10 21:13:30
I've attended every show except when I was deployed in the army. I liked the Grant Park
venue, with its 'Grass Roots' feel, but my favorite BMCD's were the Chateau Elan years, as
there were billions of cars, motorcycles and Land Rovers, a restaurant, a winery, a hotel,
and even a British Pub. You walked your legs off, but it was a great show. I never cared for
the Berry College venue. The site was absolutely picturesque, but it took half the day to
get there, and when you did finally arrive, there was no shade, no food, no wine, no ale,
no break from the sauna, and music more fitting a NASCAR crowd. I'm hoping the show in
Roswell will be better. The best show in Atlanta though, is British Car Fayre, in Old
Norcross in the fall. Now THAT's a perfect show. Restaurant(S)! A beautiful City Park!
Shops! Coffee House! Even the "Taste of Britton" store, with everything British, from food
to hats! Everything you, your spouse, your kids, your dog, your stomach, your car, your
cat, your wall, you

May

Event Website     http://www.bluegrassclub.com/
110 Club House Drive, Shelbyville, KY, USA
May 16, 2013

Listed on Calendars: The Austin-Healey Experience

The Bluegrass Club is back with the biggest party of the spring Healey season. After a year hiatus we are dusting off our old tricks to put together a fun and memorable weekend for all our Healey friends.

Each year we are thrilled to welcome friends, old and new, to Bluegrass country to share in friendship, food, beautiful sites and once-in-a-lifetime access to some of the areas most incredible destinations. This weekend promises to provide just as much value and entertainment as years past, with some new offerings and brand new locations, this is not the year to miss this marathon Healey weekend festival.

On Thursday we invite you to the Bluegrass Hospitality Suite, overflowing with food, drinks, games and fun. Get to know some new friends and catch up with folks you haven’t seen in a while. Let your hair down as the night is young and the music is playing. We welcome you to join the Loco-Motion train and see how low you can go on the Healey Limbo Line; winner gets bragging rights for the weekend and a special lei.

Friday morning starts whenever you want! That’s the beauty of our relaxed weekend schedule. There are plenty of sites to see in the Shelbyville area, or you can venture into Louisville to catch a museum, artist demonstration or partake in the Urban Bourbon Trail. The day is yours. Meet us back at the Colonel’s Lady, Claudia Sanders Dinner House for a full buffet of some down-home cuisine. Rumor has it when Colonel Sanders kicked his wife out of the kitchen she decided to start a restaurant of her own to put him out of business. She has more herbs and spices than a grocery store aisle. Put her all you can eat goodness to the test!

Saturday we pack up and venture into the rolling hills of Bluegrass country. Whether you choose to whet your whistle with Kentucky Bourbon, enjoy the majesty of horse country or simply wander through the small towns and shops, the route to Frankfort is yours for the taking. Home to Kentucky’s state capital, Frankfort boasts the grave of Daniel Boone and plenty of historic stops. Many a Kentucky Governor has been discredited in the old Governor’s Mansion, and the marble steps of the Capital Building have been walked by some of the country’s most interesting gun-toting politicians. Enjoy your day, but be sure to meet back at the hotel for Hospitality and dessert during the awards ceremony.

This is a great show, but I wish they would put the kit car vendors outdoors and put the auto jumble indoors.
Comment by Pete Groh at 2013-04-29 11:46:42
I was a vendor when this show 1st started. Vendor space rental was reasonable and car owner would bring parts to the show. I cut keys by code at the time. A car owner misplaced his key in the For Sale area. He ask me to cut him a key (NO CODE) for the car. The key took a Waso, single sided key with 1000 plus possible key codes. I had 3 cut blanks and told him to try the lock. After a short time, heard this LOUD British car near my space. Advise me one of the keys work the lock. Appears due to use, any key that fit the lock would have started the car. Pete Groh, Ellicott City MD

The Greatest Show on British Wheels began in 1985. Since those early days 28 years ago, the show has grown to become the largest all British classic car show in western Canada, overflowing the Garden with some 600-plus classic cars and motorcycles and more than 6,000 people in attendance.

The 2013 event is shaping up to be a very special celebration of classic British-built and designed motorcars and motorcycles, with some fresh new features to rev up the interests of both enthusiasts and participants.

The celebration will begin on Friday May 17, 2013, with a Noggin ‘n Natter-style reception and silent auction held at the host hotel, Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn www.abercorn-inn.com.

The celebration continues on Saturday May 18, 2013 on the magnificent lawns of VanDusen Garden, with brass band music, pipe band, concessions, swap meet, artists’ gallery, restoration demonstrations and vendor booths, all complementing the spectacular display of British cars and motorcycles to make this a very special garden party for enthusiasts and those merely looking for a walk down memory lane.

The Knox Mountain Hill Climb is happening on May 18-19 in Kelowna, BC. This is a neat event with all sorts of cars racing, including at least one GT with a bored and stroked Rover V8 (I have seen the car in person and it is insane!). Here are some of the cars that were in it in 2012:

The Windsor-Detroit MG Club is proud to sponsor what we hope to be an annually recurring, seasonal bookend event to the fall DTSC Battle of the Brits car show.

No registration, no formal car show or class parking, and no awards; just an opportunity to share our passion with fellow British car owners and clubs, and to get to know one another.

We have reserved the same large grassy area at Camp Dearborn in Milford. We will have access to a large drum grill fired-up for anyone to use. BYO picnic lunch, something to throw on the grill, beverages, etc.

Gary’s Run 2013 is Friday May 24th to Sunday the 26th!

We’ll meet in Squamish, BC, the town just before Whistler, the Winter Olympic resort & on Saturday drive some quiet two lane secondary highways, starting with the Duffy Lake Road to the Sun Peaks resort just passed Kamloops. Full details are below.

Since this is the 10th Anniversary, some participants last year asked if we could re-do the original Run route. The morning will be identical but in the afternoon we will divert to a newer & quieter terminus so the 2013 Run will have something old & something new for the participants who have been regulars for this event.

We hope the rest of you get to enjoy some memorable drives this summer with friends in your LBC’s as we do.

What: Mini Mania's 13th Annual Nevada City Adventure

Where: 870 Gold Flat Road, Nevada City, California

When: June 1st, 2013 - from 8:00 am to 4:00pm

Featuring:

* Live Music
* $2 Lunch
* Car Show
* Scenic Driving Tour
* DYNO Testing
* Hourly Raffles
* Product Discounts
* Surprise Car Appearance
* Sprint Booster Demos on your own MINI
* Much more!

Come to the only Mini event that takes place in Gold Country, on the site of an actual Gold Mine from the 1800's! In 1850 pioneers traveled thousands of miles in covered wagons to discover gold in the small mountain town of Nevada City.

On June 1st, 2013 people will travel in their MINI Coopers and Classic Minis from all over the west coast, not to find their fortune, but to attend Mini Mania’s 13th annual Nevada City Adventure! This year’s participants will find little gold, but there will be no shortage of chrome in these foothills!

We will take a tour down to an old gold mining camp, originally known as Indiana Camp, (settled by miners from Indiana in 1849), it is now known as the town of Washington. There we will stop at the Yuba River where you can try your hand at gold panning.

The six acre Mini Mania compound is set right on the old tailings of the historic Sneath & Clay gold mine just across the street (a few buildings still stand!) surrounded by majestic pines, blue skies and (hopefully) spring-like weather throughout the day.

Enjoy festive music while you relax in the shade of tall pines and enjoy the company of fellow Mini enthusiasts

23rd Annual Vintage Sport Car Gathering Hosted by the Minnesota Austin Healey Club

The shores of Sugar Lake and the banks of the Mississippi in Grand Rapids beckon you to "Brake at the Lake" for the 2013 Vintage Sports Car Rendezvous June 6-9.

With Sugar Lake Lodge as the focal point of weekend activities and accommodations at other Grand Rapids inns, there are plenty of rooms for everyone to enjoy the hospitality of the Minnesota Austin Healey Club and the citizens of the Greater Grand Rapids area.

Those wanting an early start on the weekend can arrange a relaxing - or at least challenging - round of golf Thursday at the lodge's 18-hole course. Tee times can be made directly with the pro shop. The official good times begin Thursday afternoon with registration from 3-7 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., welcoming hospitality begins at the lodge featuring activities that renew existing friendships and foster new ones.

Friday will dawn on a variety of activities. Gymkhana enthusiasts will gather at the Grand Rapids Airport at 9 a.m. for the drivers' meeting & followed by pulse-pounding runs on an autocross artfully designed by Tom Hazen until 3 p.m. If you prefer a more sublime pace, take one of several self-guided tours of the surroundings, go on a Treasure Hunt or meander into downtown Grand Rapids for a tour of the Blandin Corporation's paper mill, nearby shopping and luncheon opportunities.

Starting at 3 p.m. Mike & Gloria Lynch's team will begin aligning our sports cars around the Grand Rapids town square for a Downtown Car Show benefiting local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops from 4-7 p.m. Each driver will receive a bucket with their registration number on it to place before their car. Townspeople and tourists will be invited to cast as many votes as they wish for their favorites using $1 bill to buy ballots from the scouts. Of course owners may also vote for their cars as often as they want. The bywords are "Vote Early & Often" - just like they do in Chicago.

The sports cars receiving the most ballots will be recognized at Saturday's awards banquet. Food & beverage options will be available on the square and at local restaurants throughout the late afternoon and early evening. Then, it's back to Sugar Lake Lodge to enjoy dancing to classic tunes from the '50s, '60s and '70s courtesy of The Morris Garage Band.

Saturday morning is all about rallying or otherwise enjoying the beauty of the area. Afternoon highlights include a Lakeshore Show & Shine, Ladies' Wine & Cheese Party and Tech Sessions for the guys. The evening's happy hour and awards banquet will cap weekend activities.

We'll be driving into the grounds of the estate early for a special event and a private breakfast. Make sure you plan to arrive on Monday so you can be ready for our Tuesday at Biltmore.

A Guided Tour of some of the most scenic locations on the Blue Ridge Parkway
We've set up a small driving tour -- we know you've just driven a distance to get here but this is very relaxing -- to one of the scenic spots just north of Asheville. The parkway speeds are 45 mph and gives you a truly unique view of the world. A lunch stop and retail therapy will be part of the tour.

A "Foot Stomping" Welcome Reception
Get in to the grove with our Monday evening activities

Self Guided Scenic Drives in the area
We'll have plenty of options for dirves that you can do to get to know the area at your own pace. Check them out here.

Tech Sessions, Funkhana and more
We'll be offering a number of tech sessions, a funkhana, ladies activities and of course the Car Display on Wednesday.

The 2013 CANADIAN HISTORIC GRAND PRIX is set for Fathers Day Weekend, June 14 to 16 at Mosport/CTMP. The VARAC event is Canada's largest and most prestigious Vintage and Historic racing event with 200 beautifully prepared racing cars competing in six race groups.

The 2013 FEATURED RACE GROUP is a TRIBUTE TO THE CARS & DRIVERS OF ONE OF CANADA'S CLASSIC RACING SERIES - the PORSCHE 944 CHALLENGE CUPS from 1986 to 1990. Some of Canada's top drivers made this one of the most memorable series in what we now know was a golden period of Canadian road racing history. Among them: BILL ADAM, RICK BYE, DAVID DEACON, DAVID EMPRINGHAM, RON FELLOWS, SCOTT GOODYEAR, LUDWIG HEIMRATH, SCOT MAXWELL, STEPHANE PROULX, RICHARD SPENARD, DAVID TENNYSON, PAUL TRACY, JACQUES VILLENEUVE.

AND there is more than great racing in store for you! Check it out!

LAPPING/TOURING SESSIONS - Have you ever wanted to drive your car on the Grand Prix Circuit? Now is your chance! We have scheduled several sessions (two per day) for enthusiasts and fans to take to the track and experience the thrill of brisk paced lapping in a safe but extremely exhilarating charge around this world famous track. This will be the best twenty minutes that you have ever spent in a car.

"CHECKERED FLAG CRUISE" - Rock'n Roll into the track in your favourite ride on Friday evening at 5:30pm for this fun and free event. This Cruise Event welcomes all types of classic cars, hot rods, rat rods, street rods, customs and sports cars. It is "American Graffiti" with a racing twist. Following racing, Cruisers will be escorted from the front gates into the facility and onto the main paddock area, the centre of the race weekend. In the race paddock, they will join with race cars for a fabulous and eclectic display of automotive machinery not seen anywhere else. You will be steps from the restaurant and washrooms. Music will be supplied by Wild Willy. Best of all, participation and entry is free compliments of CTMP and VARAC. And who knows, we may have a special surprise in store for you.

"ESSO TOWER RALLY" - Commemorating the famous Esso Tower that was the signature building of Canadian Road Racing, we have put together a light-hearted Road Rally for Saturday. The rally will begin at 10:00am and include a stop for a delicious luncheon at a fabulous lakefront Country Inn, returning you to Mosport mid-afternoon. This is something that motoring enthusiasts won't want to miss.
"LEGENDS OF THE AUTOBAHN" - Three great German Marques are represented in this first-ever Canadian Event. The Mercedes, Porsche and BMW Clubs will hold their annual Concours and Car Corrals on Saturday and Sunday. This is your chance to see these fabulous cars assembled together, appropriately surrounded by motor racing, to which they have contributed so richly.
"MINI MEET NORTH" - Canada's largest Classic Mini gathering, going on all weekend.

"FIELD OF DREAMS ALL-MAKE CAR SHOW" Presented by Liquid Wrench - This is one of the best car shows that you'll ever experience. Cars of all makes are welcome. The car show atmosphere is relaxed very social and yet the air is charged with the excitement of wheel to wheel racing just feet away from the show field in Corner 8. CTMP offers a special discount rate to FIELD OF DREAMS participants and free dash plaques and window cards are provided. Participants are offered the opportunity to join in the noon hour parade laps.

nuisance of myself. Hope to meet all kind of new friends and see the
old ones again. Excited don't quite express it.

Corn Valley is where Ol' Snort met a couple of curbs at 30 mph rendering her unloved and unused for the next 33 years. It'll be good therapy for the shameless old hussy to revisit those streets - this time without the same result.

What a great town to have an event, nice twisty roads in most all directions, very neat small towns in the surrounding area to visit as well.

The Southeastern MG T Register is excited to host the seventeenth biannual Southeastern Fall Gathering of the Faithful on October 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2013. The theme "Classics at Callaway" will be an homage to the 1940s and center around the glory days of owning
and driving our vintage MG cars. Remember the days of Beach Bon fires, dance classes, and banquet hall dinners? We're bringing back these vintage events, along with a few new traditions. Due to the tremendous amount of early arrivals at our last show, we've decided to add a full day of activities on Friday which will include a lazy drive thru Pine Mountain and down to Warm Springs. For those who enjoy visiting a little piece of history, this lovely
town was the home of President Franklin D Roosevelt's Little White House.
The formal car show Saturday morning will be taking place at the Overlook Pavilion within the gates of Callaway Gardens. This beautiful location is a picture perfect place to showcase all models of MGs and will wind down with a parade lap around the garden's scenic loop drive.

A spirited drive at speed along back roads, hills and curves through the canopy of ethereal glory as New England's sub-tropical rain forests provide a cascade of Autumnal Splendor!

Color dependent on the Good Lord smiles provided by MG.

No cost to participate, we typically end the event at a nostalgic inexpensive eatery.

Rain date the following Saturday.

Natchez Trace-Meriwether Lewis-British Car Rally
26th October 2013- Nashville To Hohenwald, TN

The Hohenwald gang of Nashville British Car Club members will be putting on the 2nd Natchez Trace-Meriwether Lewis-British Car Rally on on Saturday October 26th. 2013.

The main tour will gather in Nashville at the start of the Natchez Trace Parkway underneath the bridge. If you wish to have breakfast you have Loveless Cafe across the road. The main bunch of cars will leave at 9.30am for a leisurely drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway and hopefully a magnificent fall color change from the thousands of trees. Others from South of Nashville, say Franklin and Fairview can join the procession as it comes past your Parkway exit. From there we drive to the Meriwether Lewis Grave Site and a Park Ranger will tell us about Meriwether Lewis and his strange death. We will leave the Meriwether Lewis Grave Site for the 8 mile drive into Hohenwald and the Memorial Park which is right in the center of town where there will be a truly British lunch of "Bangers & Mash", Cottage Pie and Ploughmans Lunch, plus a band, and maybe a true British Cricket match and hopefully some sponsorship from one of our wineries to perhaps have a judging of cars. Last time we attracted around 60 cars and a Double Decker London Bus. This time with no other show on the same date close by we should double that number, especially with our friends from the Huntsville and Alabama Clubs close by who can travel up the Natchez Trace Parkway. We truly encourage you to come out for this wonderful drive through the countryside with no annoying trucks to bother you on the road.

Plenty of places to stay!

For more info you can e-mail me at gkilsby@bellsouth.net or check the Nashville British Car Club web page
